Troubleshooting Invoice Payments

Fixes for the most common setup, button and sync issues.

The payment button isn't showing on my invoices

The most common issue, and it usually means a custom template. Add the button in Settings → Document templates (see Step 3 of Set up Invoice Payments).

Don't forget your Partial Invoice template. Invoices created before the change won't have the button, so create a new one.

I can't see Connect with Stripe

You need Administrator or Power User access. Ask an admin in your team.

A paid invoice isn't in my accounting package

Check the payment toggle is on in Settings → Integrations and a Default Payment Account is selected. Check there's a bank account set up in Xero or QuickBooks. Still missing? Message us. We can see sync logs you can't.

My bank deposit doesn't match the payments in my accounting

That's expected. Stripe groups payments into one payout, and in Australia and the UK it takes its processing fee out first. Your accounting shows each invoice paid in full, so add the Stripe fees as an expense when you match the payout. See After a payment: accounting sync, refunds and disputes.

Stripe rejected my business name or address

Use your details exactly as registered:

  • Australia: ABN Lookup

  • New Zealand: the NZBN register

  • United Kingdom: Companies House

  • United States: your IRS records (the name on your EIN letter)

  • Canada: your Canada Revenue Agency or provincial registration

Stripe rejected my bank account

Check the account name matches your legal business name, and the account is in your company's currency. Then check the bank details for your market:

  • Australia: BSB and account number

  • New Zealand: full account number (bank, branch, account and suffix)

  • United Kingdom: sort code and account number

  • United States: routing number and account number

  • Canada: transit number, institution number and account number

Identity verification failed

Upload a clear, well lit photo of your ID showing all four corners. The name must match the details you entered.

Setup is stuck in review

Extra review can take 1 to 2 business days. Longer than that? Message us and we'll follow it up with Stripe. Factory can't override or speed up Stripe's checks.

My payout hasn't arrived

Your first payout typically takes 7 to 14 days after your first payment while Stripe completes its checks. After that, payouts usually land 2 to 3 business days after a payment. Check the payout status in your Stripe dashboard.
