Four steps from start to your first card payment. Allow about 15 minutes.
Before you start, have these ready
Administrator or Power User access in Factory.
A bank account set up in your accounting package.
Your business registration or tax number:
Australia: ABN
New Zealand: NZBN
United Kingdom: Companies House number (limited companies)
United States: EIN
Canada: Business Number
Photo ID for the person completing setup. They need authority to act for the business.
Details of anyone who owns 25% or more of the business.
The bank account you want payouts paid into, in your company's currency.
Step 1: Connect Stripe
Go to Settings → Integrations and click Connect with Stripe.
Sign in to Stripe, or create an account.
Enter your business details: legal name, registration or tax number, address, industry, website and a one line description of what you make.
Verify your identity and add any owners with 25% or more.
Add your payout bank account.
Optionally, set the business name customers see on their card statement.
Agree to the Connected Account Agreement and submit.
Back in Factory, Stripe shows as Connected. Most accounts are approved straight away. Some go to extra review with Stripe, which can take 1 to 2 business days.
Step 2: Set up your accounting sync
Go to Settings → Integrations and switch the payment toggle on.
Choose your Default Payment Account. This is the account in your accounting package that Stripe payments are recorded against.
Skip this and payments still go through, but they won't reach your books.
Step 3: Put the payment button on your invoice PDF
Using Factory's default invoice template? The View & Pay Invoice button appears automatically. Nothing to do.
Using a custom template? The button won't appear until you add it:
Go to Settings → Document templates and open your Invoice template.
Open the third tab (the information icon) and drag Invoice Button onto the page. Under the total, right aligned, works well.
Save.
Do the same on your Partial Invoice template if you use progress billing.
Here's what it will look like (default invoice template):
The button only appears on invoices created after you add it. Invoices you've already sent won't have it.
Step 4: Check it's working
Create your next invoice and open the PDF. If you can see View & Pay Invoice, you're live.
Managing or disconnecting Stripe
Do this from your Stripe dashboard. There's no disconnect option inside Factory.
