Product Catalogue: Product Kits

Group products into kits for faster quoting and consistent builds

Overview

A Product Kit bundles multiple products and labour line items into a single item that can be added to an order in one step. Kits keep recurring builds consistent across quotes and reduce manual line-item entry for jobs that ship the same combination of components every time.

Types of Kit

Two pricing modes are available, depending on whether the kit should track underlying product prices or carry a fixed price of its own.

Standard Kit

The kit price is calculated based on the total of its individual line items. When a component price is updated in the Product Catalogue, the kit price is automatically updated for all kits containing that component except for existing orders.

Custom Kit

A single price is set for the kit as a whole, overriding the individual line item prices. Cost and markup tracking can be enabled to calculate the kit price automatically from underlying component costs and the chosen markup.

Product Details

The Product Details page contains everything that defines the kit, including its name, settings, the products included in it, and its pricing table.

Product Kit Name

  • Product kit image: A visual representation for the kit.

  • Product kit name: The display name of the kit.

  • โ‹ฎ (more options): Duplicate or delete the selected kit.

๐Ÿ“ Note

  • Product images can be changed at any time. Removing an image entirely requires contacting support@factory.app or sending a message via the in-app Messenger.

Kit Options

Two toggles control how the kit is priced and how costs are tracked.

Use custom kit pricing when adding to order (overrides individual product prices)

  • When enabled, the kit is priced as a single line item on the Order. Component prices are locked once the Kit is added and cannot be edited individually.

I track costs and markups for this kits

  • Becomes available once custom kit pricing is enabled. Allows Cost and Markup fields to be set for the kit, so the price can be calculated automatically from component costs and the chosen markup.

Products in this kit

This section lists the items and quantities included in the kit. Items can be added individually or grouped into sub-kits for larger, multi-stage builds.

Add Sub-kit

Sub-kits group line items within a kit, useful for larger jobs where the build is broken into distinct sections or assemblies. Each sub-kit appears as its own grouping inside the main kit.

Add product

The following item types can be added to a kit:

  • Product catalogue: Any product already in the Product Catalogue.

  • Labour product: Labour assigned to a specific team member who will perform the work.

  • Internal note: Notes visible to the team only. They do not appear on customer-facing documents.

  • External note: Notes visible to both the team and the customer.

๐Ÿ“ Note

  • Line items and sub-kits can be reordered by dragging and dropping. By default, items appear in the order they were added. Where a product variant is added and its parent product is already in the kit, the variant is grouped under the existing product name.

Pricing section

The Pricing section becomes available once Use custom kit pricing when adding to order is enabled, allowing a single custom price to be entered for the kit as a whole. Enabling I track costs and markups for this kits additionally unlocks Cost and Markup fields, so the kit price can be calculated automatically from component costs and the chosen markup rather than entered manually.

๐Ÿ“ Notes

  • Kit cost is calculated as the sum of all line item costs in the kit.

  • A Product Kit variant can be added by selecting add kit variant.
